This notice summarizes the privacy practices of CDIC with regard to the portal.
CDIC may collect, use and disclose personal information under the authority of the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation Act in the event of a member institution failure to make deposit insurance payments to eligible depositors. This portal will collect, use and store your name, contact information, password, payment preferences and payment information including account numbers. The purpose of this portal is to communicate with and inform you of your insurance category, insurance amount and direct that amount to your financial institution. In the case of professional trustee deposits, CDIC requires information about the beneficiaries of such deposits in order to process deposit insurance payments for those beneficiaries.
We may engage service providers to assist us in processing personal information for these purposes.
All personal information collected by CDIC is protected under the Privacy Act, which gives individuals the right to access and correct their personal information.
